About

The West Towns Chorus is the Chicagoland West Suburban Chapter of the Illinois District. It was chartered in June, 1948, originally as the "Lombard Chapter" and they changed their geographic affiliation in 2002 to more closely align with the area from which they draw their membership - the western suburbs of Chicago. According to "Barbershop Lore" from the March 1961 show program:

"In the local west suburban area, organized harmony under the auspices of SPEBSQSA had its beginning in 1944 with the chartering of a Wheaton group which later became the Wheaton-Glen Ellyn chapter. Meanwhile, another group of avid barbershoppers in the Tree Towns area organized the Lombard chapter in 1948. From this organization evolved the present West Towns chapter, with the Wheaton-Glen Ellyn group joining the Lombard group in 1954. The name of West Towns was adopted in 1956."

The West Towns Chorus won its first District Championship in 1960. The following year, the chorus was the 5th place bronze medalist in the International competition.

They have represented the Illinois District a total of sixteen times in International contests and have finished as a Top Five medalist seven times.

In 1987 The West Towns Chorus won the International Championship in Hartford, CT.
